New members are always welcome (like most choirs we reserve the warmest reception for new tenors!) and can come and try us out without obligation. There is no audition, but we find that most singers who join us have sung in a choir before. Some of the choir are good sight readers; many others find their way more gradually. You will need to follow a score and find your part in it, but above all, you need to be enthusiastic about the type of music we sing, and do a bit of homework between rehearsals if it doesn’t come easily! For the more challenging works we help your practice sessions by providing rehearsal files and links to online performances.
If you are interested in joining the choir, and would like to know more, do contact our membership secretary Celia Barnshaw:
You are welcome to attend any rehearsal to see whether what we offer is right for you, but please do make yourself known to those around you, and to the voice representative for your section.
There is no charge for attending up to three ‘taster’ rehearsals, but thereafter an annual subscription is payable,
We rehearse in St Mary’s Church, Wallingford on Tuesdays from 7.30-9.30pm, and the refreshment break at half time gives us the chance to socialise as well.
