  • Type of event: Other - Come & Sing
    Duration: 6 hours
    Venue: Caversham Heights Methodist Church

    The Vespers
is a haunting, reflective and deeply moving work expressing the composer's deep and very personal religious faith.  A wonderful piece to sing, it is imaginatively scored for voices, has a wide dynamic range, and important melodic lines for all parts. We will be singing a selection from the 15 movements. To help us better understand The Vespers and its place in the liturgy, expert Tatiana Soloviova will give brief explanations of aspects of the service.

Following the day's rehearsals there will be an informal performance at 4 pm. Non-singing guests are welcome to attend.

The charge for the day will be £20 a head which includes tea and coffee throughout the day. Please make your own arrangements for lunch. You can pay by cheque or by bank transfer.

We will be using the Musica Russica edition of the Mass. If you need to hire the music that will be an additional £1.50, and if you would like it in advance, the postage will be £3. A diction file to help with pronunciation will be available from the website.

If you would like to come, the application form is below and on our website at http://www.readingbachchoir.org.uk/events/workshop2019/. You can send it by post or cut and paste it into an E-mail.
